Bali Love

Embarking on a two month-long journey in Bali has been nothing short of enchanting. From the bustling streets of Ubud to the serene beaches of the north, each day unfolds like a tropical dream. Join me as I recount the magical moments and soul-nourishing experiences that have defined our time on this captivating island.

Our exploration began in Ubud, a town steeped in culture and spirituality. Art is every where in bali with an incredible sense for beauty into the smallest details there is payed attention. The variety of food availble in Ubud is outstanding especially for vegetarians , vegans and raw food adepts etc that have usually limited choices , here the word is total abundance of options. Shopping is dangerously tempting and completely overwhelming because there are just too many nice things ! The thriving yoga scene is puzzling … like a yoga centre and studios maze for all sorts of classes / workshops and retreats. And the traffic is absolutely mad !! Despite the occasional rain, we delved into the heart of Balinese traditions, visiting a chocolate factory, and discovering the ancient secrets of temples. The lush landscapes and rice terraces provided a scenic backdrop to the unique blend of old-world charm and contemporary life.

Seeking refuge from the hustle and bustle, we ventured north, where tranquility awaited on much calmer horizons for us by the beaches. Here, I had the privilege of supporting a friend’s yoga and aqua healing sanctuary, a hidden gem on the coastline. Renate, the owner of this beautiful retreat sanctuary called Prana Veda, realized her dream in Bali 15 years ago and created a magical place for yoga, Ayurveda, and aqua healing. Renate and I connected last spring in Corfu, where we discovered so many common interests that the idea of coming to Bali and being a guest teacher at Prana Veda arose.

Our days were filled with the exploration of enchanting waterfalls, immersive day trips to hidden gems, and a deep dive into the rich cultural tapestry of Bali. From vibrant ceremonies to the scent of incense lingering in the air, every experience painted a vivid picture of Bali’s unique charm and hospitality.

Today we just completed a two-week winter retreat in this tropical haven. It was a transformative experience. Renate and I guided not only yoga, meditation, and breathing classes but also created a special immersion in the beautiful warm water temple pool at the heart of Prana Veda. This unique experience allowed guests to learn to hold each other in warm water, creating a profound and touching bond. As the retreat concludes, we reflect on the beauty and depth of the connections forged during these two weeks, leaving us with a sense of fulfillment and gratitude.

Living amid Bali’s tropical embrace has become a source of perpetual joy for our family. The positive impact on our mood, mindset, and the simplicity of life is profound. Bali has taught us the art of finding contentment in simplicity, a lesson that lingers as we savor the midway point of our two-month sejour.

As we continue our exploration of Bali, with one full month still ahead of us, we carry with us the echoes of waves, the whispers of temples, and the warmth of Balinese hospitality. From the heart of this island of gods, I express gratitude and joy. Until our paths cross again, may your own journey be filled with the ongoing magic and wonder.

With love from Bali
