Discover Ischia: Land of Healing Waters

Lush, volcanic, and bathed in golden light, the island of Ischia has been a place of healing since ancient times. From its thermal hot springs to mountain trails and botanical gardens, this island whispers renewal in every direction.
You’ll be staying in the south of the island, just above Maronti beach, near the car-free village of Sant’Angelo. Thermal steam rises from the sand, and every path is scented with lemons, figs, and wild herbs.

The Venue: a family-run Farmhouse

Il Giardino del Nonno is a family-run farmhouse retreat nestled in lush gardens above the sea, where thermal waters rise from deep within the earth. Once the grandfather’s vegetable garden, the land is now alive with fig, mulberry, and pomegranate trees. The heart of the place is its natural spa: two open-air thermal pools, one indoor pool, a volcanic stone sauna, and steam caves carved into ancient tuff — a sanctuary for deep restoration. Rooms are set among the trees with private entrances and terraces, some offering simple island charm, others quiet luxury. The family welcomes you with warmth, tending the gardens and preparing homemade meals. Yoga takes place in a serene indoor sala or on a sea-view platform — stunning spaces to move, breathe, and simply be.

Due to the intimate nature of the retreat, space is limited. Early booking is highly encouraged!

Special Activities & Excursions
Just off the coast of Naples, Ischia is a lush volcanic island with a unique energy all its own.
Shaped by ancient geothermal activity, it carries an almost tropical feel — warm, fertile, and vibrant, with a microclimate that sets it apart from the rest of Italy.
October is a particularly magical time to visit. The summer crowds have gone, the sea remains warm, and the island settles into a slower, softer rhythm.

The easiest way to reach Ischia is to fly into Naples (NAP – Capodichino Airport).
You can also fly into Rome (FCO or CIA) and take the train to Naples.
We recommend arriving in Naples early in the day, and booking a return flight from midday onwards, to allow enough time for the ferry crossing.
A transfer from Naples airport or train station directly to Sant’Angelo can be arranged, including taxi + boat:
- €50 per person (shared)
- €85 for solo travel
- €90 with electric car drop-off all the way to the venue
- 8 days/7 nights private accommodation
(each room with private bathroom and fresh linens) - Daily breakfast and dinner, homemade and nourishing

- Additional meals outside of breakfast and dinner
- Massages and bodywork treatments
- Extra activities, such as boat trips, wine tastings, or excursions
The food is an absolute highlight of the retreat. Guests often return year after year just for the meals!
Breakfast is served buffet-style and includes a generous spread of fresh fruit, eggs, bread, muesli, yogurt, tomatoes from the garden, ricotta, local cheeses, Italian pastries, coffee, tea, and juices — everything you need to start the day well-nourished.
Dinner is a lovingly prepared, multi-course meal featuring a first course of pasta, risotto, or soup, followed by a second course of freshly caught fish (the owner’s husband is a fisherman!), seasonal vegetables, and salad. There’s always a delicious dessert to end the meal.
Gluten-free options are available — just let us know in advance. Much of what’s served comes straight from the garden, and every dish is made with care and the freshest ingredients.
Groups are intimate and spacious, usually between 12 and a maximum of 20 participants. Just the right size to feel connected, yet have plenty of personal space.
All activities during the retreat are optional — you’re free to do as much or as little as you like. In addition, we can help you arrange private boat trips around the island, massages, and bodywork sessions. There are also nearby spas within walking distance, offering treatments like pedicures, manicures, and more. Whether you’re craving adventure or deep rest, there’s something for you.
